Hermeneutica

Why Hermeneutica?

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. (Colossians 1.9-14: NIV)

This blog is about growing in the knowledge of the one who has rescued us from our own blindness and self-destruction, so that we may lead lives worthy and pleasing to our Creator. It is about the convergence of our hearts, minds, lives, and the transforming presence, power, and love of the GOD known in and through Jesus of Nazareth, the LORD and Christ.

This blog has a history. In 2005 during the final year of a Bachelor in Applied theology at Carey Baptist College, I was undertaking a research project on Theological/Biblical Hermeneutics. It was then that I discovered blogging and created Hermeneutica in order to share what I was learning, get feedback and create discussion, and sharpen my thinking through the whole experience.

After a period of posting on just about anything, and then an even longer period of simply not posting at all…      [????????????????]      …Im back with a new focus, a writing project engaging beliefs and teaching on money & material possessions in the contemporary Church. My hope is that through various avenues of publication and discussion, I can go some way to helping the Church critique its own beliefs, teaching, and life, and gain a clearer picture of what it means to love the GOD revealed in Jesus of Nazereth.

So I invite you again. This blog is a place to disseminate my thoughts, explore the thoughts of others, and to encourage some healthy and humble discussion. No assumptions or presuppositions are free from questioning, clear thinking and the dispelling of shadowy ambiguity is a must. The Truth is calling us, and this is my humble response in surrender to it. Will you join me?
